Beach, sea, rest and space!

Along the North Sea coast lie the beautiful wide and clean beaches of Callantsoog, Petten, Groote Keeten and Sint Maartenszee. The coast is over 17,5 kilometres long. Enjoy a day at the beach with the whole family or add an overnight stay at one of the accommodations nearby.

For the active person: go for a walk and get a breath of fresh air along the coast and then relax at a beach pavilion. A variety of beach cafes are open all year. The sporty types grab their surfboards for an active day on the water. And another additional benefit: parking is free.

Sint Maartenszee

You will find peace and space on the pristine beach of Sint Maartenszee. It is one of the cleanest beaches in the Netherlands. You reach the wide sandy beach via a route through the beautiful dune area. Experience the real family atmosphere and enjoy the view over the North Sea from one of the two beach pavilions.

Tip! Sleeping on a dune

Camping at the foot of the dunes, on the coast or on top of a dune; surprising campsites can be found in Sint Maartenszee. At Duincamping De Lepelaar, for example, you can camp wild between the dune roses or in a dune pan. No place is the same.

Callantsoog

Pass the high dunes of the village and a wide, clean and white sandy beach stretches out like an endless plain before you. Callantsoog is known as one of the oldest and most beautiful seaside resorts in the Netherlands. For a drink or lunch you can sit on the terrace of one of the many beach pavilions or you can easily walk into the cozy village.

Tip! Sleep in a tipi tent

Sleep in an attractive lodge or cool tipi tent. Within walking distance of the beach you will find Duynpark Het Zwanenwater. Children have plenty of space to play here and there is an outdoor area where you can eat outside.

Groote Keeten

Groote Keeten is just north of Callantsoog. From the village you walk through the dunes to the beach, where the "relax mode" automatically switches on. Enjoy with the whole family on this clean family beach with many amenities. In summer, this coastal town comes into full bloom. And not unimportantly: you can park for free in Groote Keeten.

Tip! Sleep among the cows

Cozy camping on a farm campsite. Mini camping 't Landleven is only 1 kilometer from the sea. Children are allowed to help the farmer and his wife with taking the cows out of the meadow, milking them and giving the bottle to the calves.

Petten

Between Petten and Camperduin is a beautiful wide beach in front of the Hondsbossche and Pettemer Zeewering. This seawall has been raised and widened several times in the never-ending battle between land and sea.

Tip! Camping at the beach

Camping Corfwater is hidden between the Pettemer Dunes and the Hondsbossche Zeewering. The sea and the beach are barely 100 meters away, surrounded by forests and dunes.

Dogs on the beach

Do you want to take your dog to the beach? On the beaches between Groote Keeten and Petten, dogs are allowed free all day between October 1 and May 1. From May to September, dogs are only allowed loose between 7 pm and 9 am, so between 9 am and 7 pm dogs are only allowed on a leash.

Horses on the beach

There are also a number of rules for riders that you should take into account. From October to April, horses are allowed on all beaches, except Sundays from 12 noon to 7 pm. From May to September, horses are only allowed on all beaches before 10am and after 7pm.

Exemption from beach entrance

It is forbidden to drive the car on the beaches. Only when it is necessary that you have to be on the beach with a vehicle, it is possible to request an exemption from the municipality. At Great Vakantiehuizen you can also get a chip for the barrier on presentation of an invalid pass or proof of the doctor to be able to drive by car to the beach of Petten or Sint Maartenszee.

Accessibility on the beach

The following beach operators offer disabled beach visitors the opportunity to use a beach wheelchair for a small fee. Beach pavilions in Callantsoog 'De Toko' and 'De Stern'. Safe to the beach

People come to our beaches on summer days. Sunbathing, swimming, playing, looking for shells: you will never be bored. But always pay attention! The sea changes at ebb and flow and children get lost on the beach. The dangers are sometimes underestimated, so don't go too far and stay alert.
