Those who truly want to discover provincial Noord-Holland by bike or on foot should come to Schagen. Schagen Marktstad is an ideal starting and finishing point for a trip to the beach and dunes, along vast meadows or bulb fields. The Westfriese Omringdijk is also wonderful for a cycling or walking tour. This monumental dike is no less than 126 kilometres long and connects Schagen with cities such as Hoorn, Alkmaar and Medemblik.
